About Us

The Virginia Healthcare Emergency Management Program (VHEMP) is a partnership between the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA).  The program aims to address and close gaps in the healthcare systems ability to plan and respond to natural and manmade disasters.  This is done through a well-established network of 4 healthcare coalitions who work with healthcare facilities and response organizations to identify and address gaps in healthcare preparedness and response in their area.

Each healthcare coalition operates a 24/7 Regional Healthcare Coordination Center (RHCC) designed to communicate and coordinate response activities during a disaster affecting one or multiple healthcare facilities.  The program aims to build partnerships, share resources, and coordinate response at the local, regional, and state levels.  Visit our contact us page to learn more about our program or the regional info page to learn more about your healthcare coalition!
